Parsippany, New Jersey; Saturday, August 18, 2012. Parsippany PAL Building – The Morris County Track Club (MCTC), an AAU & USATF registered competitive club member in the New Jersey Association held the teams 2012 Summer Awards Night.
The 2012 keynote speaker was Parsippany native Ms. Bria Saunders. Bria a 2010 alumnus of the Morris County Track Club summer program and current record holder and champion at Parsippany High School, spoke to the audience about her transition to high school athletics and the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and athletics. Bria sited the advantages MCTC provides prior to stepping up to high school competition. The primarily youth audience was riveted as Bria talked in detail about her experience competing at the high school level, the talented athletes and competitive meets like the Meet of Champions and Penn Relays.
Bria’s words resonated with many of the athletes in attendance that had trained with Bria the summer prior to her entering into high school. The entire Morris County Track Club team (past and present) is excited for Bria, but not surprised by her success, based on Bria’s approach and commitment to training. Bria will begin her junior year at Parsippany high school and this Lady Redhawk is ready to fly!
