Seven Morris County Track Club Athletes Win Medals At USATF Northeast Zone Championships All Advance to the USATF National Youth Indoor Track and Field Championships
Bennett Indoor Athletic Complex, Toms River, New Jersey, February 22-23, 2014 – Six Morris County Track Club athletes advance to the USATF National Youth Indoor Track and Field Championships in Landover, Maryland March 8-9. The top six finishers at Sunday’s Northeast Zone Championships, by gender, qualified to compete for national honors in March.
Matias Pellegrino won first place in the “Boys 13-14” Long Jump (5.50 meters) and first place in the Triple Jump (10.90 meters) in the same division. Aidan Kamp won first place in the “Boys 11-12” Long Jump (4.68 meters). Bayliss Simon took third place in the “Girls 9-10” Long Jump (3.74 meters). Nana Agyemang placed third in the “Boys 11-12”, Long Jump (4.67 meters) and fourth in the 55 Meter Dash (7.93) in the same division. Rawle Workman was fifth in the Boys 11-12 Long Jump (4.11 meters) and Noah Cooper place sixth in the Boys “8 and Under” Long Jump (2.74 meters). Jayner Gorospe won fourth place in the “Boys 15-16” 55 Meter Dash (6.92)
Coach Horacio Pellegrino was thrilled with the team’s results stating, “we are very excited to once again send so many athletes to compete on the national stage. These results prove that we provide our athletes with the coaching and training that allows them to succeed to the best of their abilities.”
The Morris County Track Club is a not-for-profit organization formed for top-tier youth athletes who want to compete in track meets sanctioned by national organizations like the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) and the USATF (United States Track & Field, the governing body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States).
